Since 1982, Hunger Week has been working to raise awareness about local, domestic & global hunger, raise funds for hunger-related agencies and lead the TCU community in taking action to make a difference.  Now in  our 25th year, & as part of a year round campus commitment to fight hunger & homelessness,  we’re passionate about getting the horned frog community & the Fort Worth community committed to making a difference!
Starting in 2006, Hunger Week broadened to a year round focus - aptly titled the Heal Hunger Campaign.  Each month Heal Hunger has a different focus on hunger relief, advocacy and education, ranging from work with the One Campaign to raising funds for Heifer International through the TCU Build an Ark Campaign; from our Hunger 101 workshops to the Oxfam Hunger banquet and beyond.

Children
In the US, 14 million children live in households where people have to skip meals or eat less to make ends meet. Across the globe, 153 million children under 5 in the developing world are underweight. Worse yet, 11 million children younger than 5 die every year, more than half from hunger-related causes.
Nationally
3.9 percent of U.S. households experience hunger. Some in these households frequently skip meals or eat too little, sometimes going without food for a full day. 10.7 million people, including 3 million children, live in these homes.
Globally
More than 852 million people in the world go hungry.  In the developing world, more than 1.2 billion  currently live below the international poverty line, earning less than $1 per day. Among them, many have problems obtaining adequate, nutritious food for themselves & their families.
What We Can Do
We have the means. The financial costs to end hunger are small. The UN Development Program estimates that the basic health & nutrition needs of the world's poorest people could be met for an additional $13 billion a year. Animal lovers in the United States & Europe spend more than that on pet food each year.
What makes the difference between millions of hungry people & a world where all are fed?
Only a change in priorities. Only the will to end hunger.
